The Ebrahim K. Kanoo Community Medical Center, which was established in 2009 under the patronage and generous financing of Ebrahim Khalil Kanoo Company, is considered the best evidence of successful community partnership and the best example of the quality care provided by health centers in Bahrain.
The Kanoo Center provides medical care, rehabilitation, and nursing services for patients transferred primarily from Salmaniya medical Complex as well as from other governmental hospitals. The Kanoo Center provides post-acute care services to patients after a critical treatment period in any governmental hospital. This serves to help the patient function, independently and safely, in both the home and community after final discharge.
The mission of the Kanoo Center is as follows:
“To provide comprehensive high-quality medical, nursing, rehabilitation and social care through a multidisciplinary team for cases who completed the acute phase of their treatment, thereby, promoting maximum independence and the best achievable quality of life”.
The Kanoo Center serves all regions of the Kingdom with patients, both male and female, receiving various treatments. It is located near the Salmaniya Medical Complex and contains four wards with a total capacity of forty- seven beds. The duration of treatment at the center should not exceed two months. The Center receives all patients who are eighteen years and older who need to complete post-acute care and rehabilitation phases, provided that their condition is stable, and they no longer require critical care.
The Kanoo Center is of vital importance in that it helps to alleviate loading on facilities that provide trauma and acute care. Its goal is to increase the quality of life for post-acute care patients by providing comprehensive nursing, medical and social rehabilitation services after the acute phase. This gives patients access to a total recovery and social reentry program.
